Middle Years Programme : Grades 6 to 10

At Ambassador International Academy (AIA) Mankhool the Middle Years programme spans Grades 6 to 10. It guides students aged 11 to 15 through some of the most formative years of their education. Our approach prioritises inquiry-based learning. It embraces global perspectives and promotes a strong sense of community service. Students are encouraged to explore their interests by meaningfully engaging with the world around them and develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing global landscape.

Our Middle Years programme provides a flexible framework that aligns with diverse national education systems. It incorporates digital assessments and ePortfolios to ensure reliable and consistent evaluation.

At AIAM, we aim to nurture active and globally aware learners. We encourage empathy and critical thinking. Students are empowered to investigate significant issues at local, national, and international levels. They grow into creative, reflective problem-solvers who contribute thoughtfully to the world.

Middle Years Programme Subject Groups

The curriculum is organised into eight subject groups, each designed to build conceptual understanding and essential skills. Every subject requires approximately 50 hours of instruction annually, complemented by interdisciplinary units that connect learning to real-world contexts.

Language Acquisition

Individuals and societies

Explores humanities and social sciences, encouraging analysis and interpretation of complex data and societal trends.

Mathematics

Builds problem-solving and critical thinking skills for practical applications and advanced studies.

Visual arts
Promotes creativity and cultural awareness through diverse artistic disciplines.
Physical and health education

Encourages healthy choices and appreciation for physical activity, supporting overall wellbeing.

Design

Challenges students to apply innovative thinking to real-world design problems using a holistic process.

Learning Skills and Global Contexts

Our learning framework emphasises the development of essential skills that support independent learning and the ability to apply knowledge in new situations. Each unit of learning is framed within meaningful local and global contexts, helping students understand their role within a broader community and the world around them.

Service as Action & Community Engagement

Community engagement is central part of Learning at AIAM. Students are encouraged to apply their learning to make a positive impact on society.

  • Community Project (Grades 8–9): Collaborative service-learning experience.
  • Personal Project (Grade 10): An independent, in-depth exploration of personal interests.

Assessment in the Middle Years

Assessment in our Middle Years programme is criterion-related, meaning students are evaluated against clearly defined rubrics rather than compared to peers. Each subject group includes four assessment criteria, ensuring transparency and constructive feedback.

This approach fosters growth and helps students understand expectations, creating a supportive and enriching learning environment. Through the Middle Years, AIAM equips students with the knowledge, skills and values they need for future academic success and to become responsible global citizens.

  • Designed for students aged 11 to 15, our Middle Years programme encourages critical thinking and global awareness.
  • Students learn to connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications, developing independence and leadership skills.
