Primary Years Programme : Grades 1 to 5

At Ambassador International Academy (AIA) Mankhool, our Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum is carefully designed to provide a clear progression of learning across all subject areas. Each scope and sequence outlines the essential knowledge, skills, and conceptual understandings students develop as they move through their primary years.

We place strong emphasis on transdisciplinary learning - a core element of the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. Through broad, concept-driven Units of Inquiry, students explore connections across language, mathematics, science, social studies and beyond. This approach enables students to think holistically, make meaningful connections across disciplines, and apply their learning to real-world contexts - developing the critical thinking, curiosity and purposeful mindset that defines an IB learner.

Ambassador International Academy Mankhool is a Candidate School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). This school is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that we believe is important for our students.*

*Only schools authorised by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorisation will be granted.

Key Components of the Primary Years at AIA

Our Primary Years programme  is informed by a few key components that make up our holistic curriculum. Each element is crucial to the success of our learners, transitioning them out of the Early Years and preparing them for the Middle Years Programme.

Transdisciplinary Themes

The PYP curriculum at AIAM is organised around six globally significant themes. These themes help students make meaningful connections across disciplines.

  • Who We Are: Exploring identity, relationships, and wellbeing
  • Where We Are in Place and Time: Understanding history, geography, and personal journeys
  • How We Express Ourselves: Celebrating creativity, communication, and cultural expression
  • How the World Works: Investigating science, technology, and natural phenomena
  • How We Organise Ourselves: Examining systems, communities, and decision-making
  • Sharing the Planet: Addressing sustainability, resources, and global responsibility

These themes encourage learners to explore both local and global contexts. They foster deeper understanding and promote real-world application.

Inquiry-Based Learning

Inquiry is at the heart of AIAM. Students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate, and think critically. This makes learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant. The approach inspires curiosity and nurtures lifelong learners.

Our Learner Attributes

We emphasise the development of our Learner Attributes, guiding students to become:

  • Connection
  • Perspective
  • Responsibility

This approach encourages deep thinking and meaningful connections to the world.
