BTEC International Extended Diploma in Business

The International Extended Diploma in Business is a specialist vocational qualification designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills needed for employment or progression to higher education.

This programme takes a hands-on, project-based approach to learning and assessment. Students are assessed entirely through coursework, applying business concepts to real-world scenarios and practical case studies rather than traditional examinations. This ensures learning is relevant, applied, and closely connected to real business environments.

A key focus of the programme is bridging theory and practice. At Ambassador International Academy (AIA) Mankhool, students are given meaningful opportunities to gain workplace exposure through school-organised internships and structured engagement with local businesses. These experiences help students develop a strong understanding of different business models, workplace expectations, and real-world problem-solving.

Through this applied approach, students build confidence, professional skills, and practical insight, preparing them for future academic study, entrepreneurship, or entry into the workforce.

In this course students will study the following 6 Core mandatory units:

Unit 1

Exploring Business

Unit 2

Research and Plan a Marketing Campaign

Unit 3

Managing an event

Unit 4

Business Finance

Unit 5

Principles of Management

Unit 6

Business Decision Making

Students will also explore 9 additional units chosen by the teaching staff from the optional units which are likely to include diverse topics such as Digital Marketing and Investigating a Retail Business.

The benefit of undertaking a coursework subject like BTEC is the opportunity students have to improve their work after receiving formal feedback from teachers, unlike an examination subject which has a one-off summative assessment. Through this course, students will develop excellent project-based secondary research skills, critical thinking, analytical and evaluative skills and develop into independent learners. These are all valuable skills for higher education or/and professional career.
